SIP Trunking
− Support for SIP trunking, which allows customers to benefit from low cost Internet
telephony services
− Does not require SIP phones to make and receive SIP calls

IP Office System Manager Enhancements
− New Manager Operator Profile enhancements provide more flexibility when defining
security rights groups

Embedded Voicemail enhancements
− Support for simple announcements for users as well as hunt-groups
− Auto attendant menu includes option for rerouting fax calls.
− Visual Voice - access and control voice messages via the phone display
− Support for Sub Menus (multi-level auto attendant)
− Support for Fast Forward (#), Rewind (*), Skip message (9) and Call Sender (**)
when listening to messages.
− Support for 3 voicemail reception destinations using *0, *2 and *3 (as per VoiceMail
Pro).

VoiceMail Pro enhancements
− VoiceMail channel reservation - reserve voicemail channels for business-critical
functions
− Visual Voice - access and control voice messages via the phone display
− Cascaded out-calling – send notification, with an escalation capability, that a new
voice message has been received in a user's mailbox to specified phone number(s)
− Voice Recording - record calls with IP endpoints, trigger call recording by Incoming
Call Routes
− User Announcements - user start points in VoiceMail Pro now include Queued and
Still Queued options

Hunt Group enhancements
− Agent Status on No Answer - change status of call center agents that do not answer
a hunt group call
− Night service fallback
− Voicemail Answer Time - control when group calls go to voicemail
− Queued calls now include ringing calls and calls waiting to be present for ringing
− Control and usage of announcements has been separated from queuing
− Distributed hunt groups across a Small Community Network
− Idle Status

Advanced Small Community Networking
− Remote hot-desking – enables mobile workers to work in any office with the same
features, telephone number, and voicemail
− Distributed hunt groups across a Small Community Network
− Break Out – Allows a user to select an IP Office system in the network from a
displayed list and then dial a number as if dialing locally on the selected system

New ISDN Features (selected countries)
− Malicious Call Identification - MCID

Other Features
− Private Call status – prevents call from being recorded, bridged, or monitored
− RTP Relay – allows IP media streams between IP endpoints without using VCM
channels
− Password Lockout - phone features that require a validated entry will automatically
fail if preceded by 4 failed attempts in the previous 90 seconds.
− Firewall IP Office Service Controls – firewall settings now include controls to drop or allow connections to IP Office default configuration settings, security settings and
system status
− Alternate Route Selection (ARS)

Platform and Telephone Support

IP Office Release 4.0 will support the following sets (pending regional availability):
− 2400/5400 series digital phones
− 4600/5600 series IP phones
− 4406, 4412, 4424D+ sets (to provide Avaya MERLIN® MAGIX migration)
− 6400 series sets (no longer sold new)
− T3 IP and T3 digital (not supported on IP Office Small Office Edition)
− 3701/3711 (IP DECT)
− 3616/3620/3626 (WiFi)
− 3810 (900MHz)
− Analog phones
− Associated DSS units (e.g. EU24)

IP Office R4.0 will support the following platforms:
− IP Office Small Office Edition (excludes T3 IP and digital sets)
− IP406v2*
− IP412
− IP Office 500 (Standard and Professional Edition)
* - Early releases of IP406v2 (PCS 07 and lower) cannot run Release 4.0 software due to memory limitations. However, Avaya will upgrade these units free of charge for those customers that wish to take advantage of the new software. This upgrade will be covered under a Product Correction Notice (PCN) that will be issued separately from this Product Update.

IP Office Release 4.0 will NOT support:
− IP401, IP403, and IP406 v1
− These platforms continue to be supported by Avaya, and should continue to use
Release 3.2 software

With the release of IP Office 4.0, Avaya will no longer support software release 2.1
(and prior). Support for 2.1 will end on March 31st, 2007.
